Author Warren Allen Smith has several pseudoyms, one of which is "wasm."

When a resident in New Canaan, Connecticut, 1954 to 1987, he tried unsuccessfully to obtain the license plate WAS. Because that was already taken, he chose WASM, explaining that he used to be an ism but now had become a wasm. Over 3,000 of his students called him Mr. Wasm or just wasm.
