Sidney E. Ahlstrom

Ahlstrom, Sidney E. (Died 1984)
Ahlstrom in 1951 wrote his Harvard Ph. D. thesis on the subject of the rationalism of Francis Ellingwood Abbott, a Unitarian. In 1987, he wrote The Scientific Theist.
In 1970, he wrote A Religious History of the American People (Yale), which won the 1973 National Book Award in Philosophy and Religion. In 1979, the book won Christian Century's Religious Book of the Decade.
Ahlstrom taught at Yale for more than thirty years. At the time of his death, he held the Samuel Knight Chair in American History and Modern Religious History.
