Roy Speckhardt

Roy Speckhardt (24 January 1973 - )
Speckhardt, is currently the Executive Director of the American Humanist Association (AHA), where he regularly provides a Humanist perspective on progressive political issues.
He was born in Carmel, New York, to Jean and Martin Speckhardt. He earned a Bachelors of Arts in sociology from Mary Washington College and an M. B. A. from George Mason University. In addition to his college education, Roy received specialized training in nonprofit tax law, financial management, grassroots organizing, fundraising and dispute resolution.
When he joined the staff of the American Humanist Association, he was director of programs and membership. He was promoted to deputy director of the AHA in 2003 and executive director at the end of 2005 when he succeeded Tony Hileman in that role.
Speckhardt is a board member of the organization providing Humanists with leadership training, the Humanist Institute, and is a board member of the Secular Coalition for America. He is also an advisory board member of Secular Student Alliance, and the Women's Law & Public Policy Fellowship Program (WLPPFP), which helps attorneys to pursue their interests in public service and women's equality.
Between 1995-2001, Roy worked for the Interfaith Alliance in Washington, D.C., where he managed staff in the role of deputy director.
Speckhardt now lives in Washington, D.C. He has two daughters Johanna and Riley.
