Mordecai M. Kaplan

Kaplan, Mordecai M. (11 June 1881 - 8 November 1983)

When he signed Humanist Manifesto II, Rabbi Kaplan was founder of the Jewish Reconstructionist Movement. This fourth branch of Judaism (the others being Conservative, Orthodox, and Reform) is closest to the philosophic movement of secular humanism.

Kaplan wrote Future of the American Jew (1981).
