Avery, Milton Clark (1893—1965)

Avery, an American painter, used bold massing of forms as shown in his Poetry Readin (1957). His Green Sea (1954) verges on complete abstraction and is said to be in the tradition of Matisse.

Avery’s memorial service was at New York’s Society for Ethical Culture.
