Anderson, Maxwell (15 December 1888 - 28 February 1959)

Asked about humanism, Anderson, the journalist and dramatist who wrote Winterset replied to Warren Allen Smith:

  • I don’t know what I think about humanism, and I doubt that what I think is important.

He had, however, once written,

  • The gods of men are sillier than their kings and queens, and emptier and more powerless.
