Manson, Marilyn (5 January 1969- )

Brian Hugh Warner, with the stage name of Marilyn Manson, is a musician who was born in Canton, Ohio, the son of Barb (née Wyer) and Hugh Warner. He is described by youth pastor Jason Janz of Citizens for Peace and Respect as a shock rocker with a ghastly cadaverous look and body piercing, one whose music promotes suicide, death, drug use, violence, and hatred. Others, say he is just a fad like KISS, Twisted Sister, Alice in Chains, and hard rock groups of the past.

According to his autobiography, The Long Hard Road Out of Hell, on his Catholic father's side the family is of German and Polish ancestry. He was raised in his mother's religion, Episcopalianism.

• Yet Jesus Himself said, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me" (John 14:6, NASB). Over 200 times in the Bible, God says that He is the only God. For example, Isaiah 46:9 says, And do not forget the things I have done throughout history. For I am God--I alone! I am God, and there is no one else like me (NLT). Christians are simply following what the Bible has told them God has said about Himself.

As an adult, he has publicly bragged about being an in-your-face atheist. A rock star who onstage has hoisted a flaming cross made of television sets and ripped pages from a Bible as he performed, Manson upsets many with his “foul mouth” but turns just as many viewers on with his zany antics. On MTV he once said he wanted to be known as the person who brought an end to Christianity, at another time saying, “Do you really want to go to a place filled with a bunch of assholes.”

Manson married burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese on 28 November 2005. On 30 December 2006, she filed for divorce, claiming that Manson was have an extramarital affair. The divorce was entered in Los Angeles Superior Court on 27 December 2007.

Numerous freethinkers have found his performances violent, intemperate, sophomoric, and inhumanistic. His website is in keeping with such views.
