Maggie Ardiente

Maggie Ardiente (24 August 1983 - )
Ardiente is currently Director of Development at the American Humanist Association (AHA). She coordinates the AHA’s fundraising programs, serves as editor of the AHA’s membership newsletter, Free Mind, and writes for the AHA’s online blog, Rant & Reason.
Ardiente joined the AHA staff in 2005, starting out as the editorial intern for The Humanist magazine.
She graduated cum laude from James Madison University (JMU) in 2005 with a B.S. in sociology and a second major in philosophy and religion. She is a former vice-president of the JMU Freethinkers, the first and only freethought group representing atheists, agnostics, and humanists at JMU. During her senior year, the JMU Freethinkers grew significantly in membership and became more active within the campus community by holding a popular Darwin Day event, raising money for Doctors Without Borders, and participating in panel discussions with Christian and other faith groups.
Ardiente is a member of Class 15 of the Humanist Institute, a graduate-level education program for humanist leaders. From 2006 to 2008, she served on the Board of Directors of the Secular Student Alliance, a nonprofit organization based in Columbus, Ohio, one that supports freethought groups on high school and college campuses. She lives in Washington, DC.
