Lester Brown

Brown, Lester Russell (28 March 1934— )
A senior fellow, was with the Overseas Development Council when he signed Humanist Manifesto II. He founded the Worldwatch Institute and in 2007 is with Earth Policy Institute.
In 1991, he was named Humanist of the Year by the American Humanist Association.
Brown has written World Without Borders (1972) and Increasing World Food Output (1965). “Despite the end of the cold war,” he wrote before the end of the 20th century, “the world is still spending close to $780 billion for military purposes, much of it designed to deal with threats long past.”
In 1995 he was chosen as by The Earth Times as 100 Who Made A Difference. In 2003 the Foreign Policy World Affairs Council named him as One of 500 Most Influential People in the United States. In 2005, Planet" named him One of 30 Global Visionaries.
