Owens, Karen (19 - )

Karen Owens was organist at the same Sunday school as Stephen Colbert. She was born in New England and attended Universidad de las Americas. Her main interest is Transhumanism.

An Atheist, Secular Humanist, and first and foremost a Transhumanist, she is an activist who was a director of Secular Humanists of the East Bay, Berkeley, California in the 1990s; and was the first Northern California Regional Director for the Council For Secular Humanism, 1998-2002.

She belongs to the following national organizations: The Council For Secular Humanism; Atheist Alliance International; American Atheists; Freedom From Religion Foundation; The Brights; National Center for Science Education; Americans United for Separation of Church and State; People For the American Way; Extropy Institute; Immortality Institute; and the World Transhumanist Association.

She is also a member of the Atlanta Freethought Society and the Savannah Community of Reason.

Owens is the charter American trustee of the Richard Dawkins Foundation For Reason & Science, 2006 to date. She is listed in Who's Who In Hell.
