Parker, John C. (1926– )
Parker was born in Fair Haven, Vermont. When a teenager, he became convinced that he was the only Democrat and atheist in Vermont, then moved to Connecticut where he worked as a nurse’s aide in a state mental hospital.
In the late 1940s, he remembers, “I went to a dinner celebration sponsored by Charles Smith of The Truth Seeker, honoring Vashti McCollum—who was a real beauty. Woolsey Teller also spoke.”
Parker was editor of The Northeast Atheist (PO Box 63, Simsburg, Connecticut 06070) and now is its treasurer.
