Gopi Upreti

Upreti, Gopi (20th Century)
Upreti is executive director of Nepal’s National Academy for Environment, Population, and Development and President of the Humanist Association of Nepal. He heads the Department of Horticulture, Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science, at Tribhuvan University in Nepal.
He was a participant in the 1996 Humanist World Congress held in Mexico City, at which he lamented that what has taken nature a billion years to make is now being destroyed in but a year. Maintaining the eco-system’s health needs to be a humanistic priority, he holds, and the scarcity of natural resources needs to be met on a reappointed basis in which the gap between rich and poor are narrowed radically.
