Romme, Gilbert (1750–1795)
Romme was a French mathematician who became deputy to the Legislative Assembly in 1791 and a member of the Convention in 1792.
In 1793 he introduced the new Republican Calendar, the plan for which was drawn by Lalande, the names having been assigned by Fabre d’Eglantine.
Romme advocated the Fêtes of Reason. Upon being condemned to death, Romme committed suicide.
