Adams, George (19th Century)

In 1842, Adams was sentenced in Bristol, England, to one month of imprisonment for having sold Thomas Paine’s Oracle of Reason. A cabinet maker as well as a radical bookseller, Adams was married to Harriet Adams, also a freethinker.
