Braddock was a secularist and Labour Member of Parliament.

Born in Liverpool, England, she was a city councillor from 1930 until 1961. She then became the first Labour and first female member of Parliament.

A right-winger, she was a caustic speaker and defender of working people's rights to better health and education service.
