Fischer, Edmond H(enri) (6 April 1920 — )
Fischer, a Swiss-American winner of the Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine in 1992, was born in Shanghai, studied in Europe, and taught biochemistry at the University of Washington, Seattle, Washington. He is known for his findings concerning phosphorylation.
Asked in 1994 about humanism, he responded:
- I don’t know in which category you want to include me, but I am definitely a non-theist. I do not believe in a Supreme Being and I do not believe in the existence of any God.
