Doerr, Edd (21 December 1930 - )

Doerr, a signer of Humanist Manifesto II, was elected in 1995 as President of the American Humanist Association (AHA). For The Humanist, he has written on matters concerning church and state and is on the editorial board.

Since 1982, Doerr is executive director of Americans for Religious Liberty [[1]]. He has been an editor of The American Rationalist, and is on the editorial board not only of The Humanist but also of The Truth Seeker, a magazine for freethinkers.

From 1970—1982 he served as editor of Church and State. He is author of numerous books, including Religious Liberty in Crisis (1988), In Catholic Schools: The Facts (1993); and The Case Against School Vouchers (1996), in the latter of which he wrote against educational voucher plans, saying Catholic schools are sectarian institutions with discriminatory hiring and admissions policies.

Doerr addressed the Tenth International Humanist and Ethical Union (IHEU) World Congress held in Buffalo (1988). Since 1981, he has been editor of Voice of Reason.

Speaking fluently in Spanish, Doerr participated in the 1996 Humanist World Congress in Mexico City.
