Charles H. Debrovner

Charles H. Debrovner (12 July 1935 - )
Charles H. Debrovner, MD, was born in Brooklyn, New York. He received a B. S. degree from Yale and an M. D. from NYU School of Medicine.
After an internship and residency at NYU-Bellevue Hospital, he entered the private practice of Obstetrics and Gynecology with a special interest in infertility. Upon graduating, he joined the faculty of the NYU School of Medicine, rising to his present rank of Clinical Professor.
Dr. Debrovner joined the NY Society for Ethical Culture in 1984, serving as its President from 1988 to 1994. He served as President of The Humanist Institute from 1992 to 2006. He remains active on the Boards of both organizations and was recently elected to the Board of the American Humanist Association.
Since 1959, he has been married to Patricia Bruder Debrovner, a former Board member of the NY Society for Ethical Culture and a graduate of The Humanist Institute. She is currently an Assistant Leader for Adjunct Services at the NY Society and a Humanist Celebrant. She retired in 1995 after a fifty-year career as a professional actress. The Debrovners have two daughters and two granddaughters.
