Cavalcante, Guido (1230β€”1300) A noble Italian poet and philosopher, Cavalcante was a friend of Dante and a leader of the Ghibbelin party. Bayle wrote that β€œit is said his speculation has as their aims to prove there is no God. Dante places his father in the hell of Epicureans, who denied the immortality of the soul.” {BDF}
