Calvin Maglinger (5 December 1924 - )

Maglinger was born in Owenboro, Kentucky, the son of Bertha and Fred Maglinger. He is the oldest living sibling of two sisters and eight brothers. He was raised as a Southern Baptist but today is a freethinker.

A veteran during World War II, Maglinger used the Servicemen's Readjustment Act of 1944 (called the G. I. Bill) to study at the Kansas City Art Institute, where he received a diploma in Graphic Arts and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.

An artist, he has works at the Indiana State Museum. His graphic art includes cartoons as well as works used at court trials for newspapers and television. In addition, he paints wildlife, landscapes, and portraits.

Before retiring, Maglinger worked at the Evansville Courier & Press, a Scripps Howard newspaper, for 21 years as Art Director and for 12 years as manager of creative services for Texas Gas Transmission Corp.

An author and illustrator, Maglinger has written God's Mother-in-Law (1999) and 'Cause the Bible Sez So! (2006), the latter a freethinking work critical of theism and organized religions.

Maglinger lives in Evansville, Indiana, with his wife, Ruth. They have two sons, Stan and Paul.
