White, who currently is a visiting assistant professor of applied anthropology at James Madison University, has taught courses in biological, linguistic, and cultural anthropology. For ten years, he has taught composition and writing. Most recently he taught courses (at SUNY Brockport) on Human Evolution; World Poverty and Underdevelopment; Gay and Lesbian Cultures in America; Careers in Anthropology; and Magic, Witchcraft, and Religion.

In "On the Pragmatics of an Androgynous Style of Speaking (from a transsexual's perspectdive), White interviews twelve pioneers of the Los Angeles-based homosexual rights movement.

He currently lives in Harrisonburg, Virginia. (with companion?)
