'Bibles

"The Bible" ordinarily refers to the scripture of Judaism or Christianity.

(See entry for Belief, Believe, Believers. That entry contains a section about what many think is in their Bible but it is not. For example, God helps those who help themselves; spare the rod, spoil the child; cleanliness is next to godliness; God works in mysterious ways; a whale swallowed Jonah; three wise men visited the baby Jesus.)
