Aeschylus (525—456 B.C.E.)

Aeschylus, the Athenian tragic poet and father of tragedy, implicitly challenged the popular faith of his time. But, as pointed out by John M. Robertson, Aeschylus dwelt on the gods, the struggles of the gods, and on destiny, whereas Sophocles dwelt on man.
